Doris M. King, age 88 of Washburn, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Memorial Medical Center in Ashland. She was born December 26, 1925 in the Town of Orienta, the daughter of Melvin and Tillie (Johnson) Severson.

Doris farmed in the Town of Orienta for many years and also cooked at different restaurants in Orienta and in Brule. She worked at the Brule fishing pole factory in Iron River and later tended bar in Washburn. Doris enjoyed making woven rugs, doing crafts, crocheting, knitting and working on puzzles.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah (Richard Riemer) Carlson – Wausau and Donna (Al Witz) Ottman – Wawina, MN, a daughter-in-law, Sue Erickson – Florida, a sister-in-law, Shirley Severson – Superior, 2 step-daughters, Nancy Jokinen – Virginia, MN and Mary Clark – Peoria, IL, 4 step-sons, Perry (Amber) King – Chisholm, MN, Michael (Bonnie) King – Superior, Donald King – Maple and Arnie King – Florida, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Leonard Erickson Jr., husband, Mike King, 2 sisters, Melva Hoefling and Ruby Colen and a brother, Melvin Severson.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Bratley Funeral Home in Washburn with Pastor Bill Wrieden officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M., - 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral Home. Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery in the Town of Orienta.
